The HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid course develops the knowledge and practical skills required to recognise and respond to a range of first aid situations.
First aid can make an important difference during an emergency. Knowing how to assess a situation, obtain emergency assistance and provide appropriate initial care can help protect a casualty until professional medical assistance becomes available.
This course introduces learners to essential first aid principles, including emergency response procedures, casualty assessment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), management of injuries and medical emergencies, and communication and reporting following an incident.
The course combines online theory learning and assessment with required practical first aid assessment.
About This Course
HLTAID011 provides learners with the knowledge and skills required to provide an initial first aid response to a casualty.
Learners explore how to recognise an emergency, assess immediate hazards, check a casualty's condition and determine an appropriate first aid response.

Check and manage the casualty's airway.
B – Breathing
Check whether the casualty is breathing normally.
C – CPR
Commence cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required.
D – Defibrillation
Use an AED as soon as one becomes available and follow its instructions.
Learners also examine first aid responses for common injuries, illnesses and emergencies.

Theory Assessment
The online theory assessment contains:
133 assessment questions
The assessment includes both:
Single-answer questions
Multiple-answer questions
Where a question requires more than one answer, all required answers must be selected correctly for that question to be marked satisfactory.
The theory questionnaire in your supplied assessment is assessed out of 133 questions.
Required Theory Result
133 / 133 – Satisfactory
If an incorrect answer is submitted, the online assessment identifies the relevant question numbers so the learner can review the learning material and attempt those questions again.
Practical Assessment Requirement
Important
Completing the online learning and theory assessment does not by itself complete HLTAID011.
Learners must also successfully complete the practical assessment requirements specified by the Training Organisation.
Practical assessment may require learners to demonstrate first aid skills, including CPR and other emergency-response procedures, under appropriate assessment conditions.
The Training Organisation must verify that all required theory, practical and administrative requirements have been successfully completed before determining final competency.
Course Completion and Certification
After completing the online component:
Complete all online learning modules.
Complete the 133-question theory assessment.
Achieve the required satisfactory theory result.
Complete the required practical training and assessment.
